The North Dakota Newspaper Association annual convention has been postponed amid concerns about COVID-19. The event was originally scheduled for the second weekend in May. A new date has not yet been set, but the NDNA board will meet next week to consider options.
Matt Von Pinnon, editor of The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, has been nominated for the presidency of NDNA. Election of officers and directors will be held May 9 at the association's annual meeting in Bismarck. Von Pinnon will succeed Karen Speidel of the News-Monitor, which serves rural Richland County.
Only 32 people attended this year's Witham Symposium on Excellence in Newspapers, but those who did found the six presentations to be well worth their while.
Kevin Slimp is chomping at the bit to quiz North Dakota millennials about how they get news. He'll do so Oct. 17 during the Witham Symposium on Excellence in Newspapers. And while that millennial focus group is still two weeks off, he's already planning to talk about it at presentations in other states next month.
This year's Witham Symposium on Excellence in Newspapers will feature presentations on advertising, writing and reporting, human relations basics and more. The annual event sponsored by the North Dakota Newspaper Association Education Foundation will be held Oct. 17-18 at the Bismarck Public Schools Career Academy located on the campus of Bismarck State College.
