Community Editor - Grafton
The Walsh County Record is a weekly newspaper actively seeking a community editor for its editorial staff. The position is entry level and duties include reporting on local community, school and church events, as well as photography. You will actively seek stories, facilitate proper communication and develop professional relationships with community members. Other responsibilities include: Produce self-generated/assigned stories. Coordinate and conduct interviews for stories. Learn Associated Press (AP) style guidelines. Adobe InDesign newspaper layout. Assist/support other reporters with stories or photography. Produce weekly column. Gather, write obituaries. Complete community calendars. Required skills: High school diploma. Computer skills and ability/willingness to learn computer programs. Writing skills, including a good knowledge of English grammar. Ability to adapt to different environments and multi-task, as well as prioritize. Meet newspaper deadlines and manage time well. Excellent communication skills. Self-reliant and flexible. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). Salary is DOE. Benefits include major medical, flexible benefits and 401(k) with match. FT Reporter - Valley City
Full-time reporter position to investigate and write the creative “scoop” for the Times-Record newspaper. Responsibilities include: receiving assignments and/or investigating news leads and tips. Write and deliver news stories with the reader’s perspective in mind. Stay up-to-date with the latest current happenings and events in Barnes County, always pursuing the lead for a great upcoming story. Requirements: Working experience as a reporter or intern preferred but will train the right individual along with excellent communication and active listening skills. FT Sports Reporter - Devils Lake
The Devils Lake Journal is looking for a full-time sports reporter to cover sports and tell the stories of those who live, work, and play in the Lake Region. The Devils Lake Jour-nal is a Monday through Friday daily newspaper, in Devils Lake, ND, with a strong web presence, surrounded by area high schools, a local junior college right in town, and our own high school team, the Devils Lake Firebirds. We get rodeos and sprint car races and walleye fishing tournaments and a host of other special events throughout the year. There are also seasonal sports editions for you to create. Other duties include updating the website with stories and the occasional video, and posting to our Facebook, and other social media. Experience in photography is preferred, but is required with design software, either InDesign or Quark.
