Calling North Dakota celebrities! NDNA is working on a program that uses famous North Dakotans to comment on the importance of constitutional freedoms.

NDNA has hired two reporting interns to provide stories for use by member newspapers this summer: Sydney Hoover and Lucie Krisman began working June 1. They are writing weekly stories that have significance or interest to communities across the state.

The application deadline for internships funded by the NDNA Education Foundation has been extended because so few have been received.

There is no business as usual these days. Following the NDNA board’s decision to postpone the May 7-9 annual convention, decisions have been made about what will happen instead.

NDNA Convention Postponed
The North Dakota Newspaper Association annual convention has been postponed amid concerns about COVID-19. The event was originally scheduled for the second weekend in May. A new date has not yet been set, but the NDNA board will meet next week to consider options.

Duane Schatz, a longtime newspaper publisher from Grant County and past president of the North Dakota Newspaper Association, is about to become the 55th member of the NDNA Hall of Fame.

With a nod to the notion that newspapers have a bright future despite the disruptions of the past, this year's NDNA convention aims to "Focus on the Future." The convention will be held May 7-9 at the Radisson Hotel Bismarck.
