The Bottineau School Board held its June meeting on Monday, June 16, and discussed a number of items with the initial focus on hiring teachers and summer projects in the district.

POSITIONS

The primary discussion at the board meeting was the hiring of the building trades teacher, which the district has not been able to fill this summer.

Jason Kersten, superintendent of the Bottineau School District, stated the school had not found a candidate for the building trades’ position. He added that the district has taken its job search to the national level but they have still been unable to find a suitable teacher for the spot. The search will continue, but there was also a discussion of hiring the position internally if the nation search doesn’t find a candidate.

In other positions that need to be filled, the school district has hired Karen Klebe as the district’s K-2 Title I position and Raylene DeMontigny for the part time elementary special education position.

PROJECTS

This summer, the school district is conducting five maintenance projects, which includes remodeling of the boys locker room, brick work in front of the auditorium, new ceiling tiles in the hallway and library, new exterior door by the band room and atomic clock work in the building.

Tom Acheson Jr., director of maintenance for the school district, stated the boys’ locker room had been gutted and the maintenance crew was painting the locker room with the tile company to start in the near future.

Acheson added that the other summer projects were scheduled to start in the near future and were all on schedule.
