In the Bottineau city election on June 10, only three incumbents ran on the city and council ballot and won their seats for another term.
MAYOR
In the mayor race, Ben Aufforth received 250 votes for his second term as mayor.
COUNCIL
Council members Gary Mortensen, Matt Seykora and Diane Lorenz, who were all appointed to their seats by the council in the last term to replace aldermen who resigned their seats, were officially voted into office on June 10 with Mortensen receiving 253 votes, Seykora with 246 votes and Lorenz with 234 votes.
There were also a number of write-ins on the city election ballot. Former alderman, Troy Marsden, received the most votes and he has until the city’s reorganization meeting on June 24 to decide if he wants to accept the position.
If Marsden declines the position, the seat will then remain open and the council can decided whether or not to appoint a person, hold a special election or allow the seat to stay open until the next city election.
PARK BOARD
In the Bottineau Park Board election, Matt Glasner and Mike Aasen were elected to the park board with Glasner receiving 256 votes and Aasen getting 236.
MEASURE
In City Measure No. 1, which called for “the city of Bottineau to publish its city governing body minutes in the official newspaper for the next four years,” city voters approved the measure 274 to 11.
The number of voters in the election was around 260.
