Fair board prepares for the 125th county fair

The Bottineau County Fair is preparing for its 125th Annual Bottineau County Fair that will be held June 12-15.
The gates officially open for Bottineau’s county fair on Thursday, June 12, at 8 a.m. with a number of events talking place in the celebration of the county’s fair 125th Anniversary. Kicking off the Quasquicentennial fair is the longest standing tradition of the exhibition, judging the county’s livestock, which this year will take place in the new barn with the annual 4-H Livestock judging show starting at 9 a.m.
The celebration continues from 4 to 7 p.m. with a free meal sponsored by Legacy Oil at the Millennium Building.
Following the meal, the county’s fair board has a unique event plan with the yearly Amateur Night Show when they will be bringing back past winners of the show during the Amateur Night Reunion, which will bring back some of the fair’s most favorite performers to the grandstands.
On Friday, the morning begins with the 4-H Parade of Champions at 9:45 and the 4H Premium Sale at 10 a.m. at the new barn.
The much-loved Johnny Holm, who has found a home at the Bottineau County Fair, will be back for the 125th celebration Friday evening when he will be performing in front of the grandstands at 7:30 p.m. Holm, who the Star Tribune calls the “human jukebox” of music and entertaining will be performing a variation of rock, pop, country, hip-hop and more.
The headline entertainment this year is the American country music duo the Swon Brothers from Muskogee, Okla.
The Swon Brothers are best known for finishing third in the 2013 NBC television show, “The Voice” during the show’s fourth season.
The brothers’ first official single, “Later On,” sold over 35,000 copies in its first week late last year.
The Swon Brothers will be performing on Saturday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in front of the grandstand.
Brad Lee Schroeder, a Nashville recording artist with the Top 40 Country Billboard song, “Easy,” will give the final performance of the evening at 9 p.m. in the Beer Garden.
Finishing up the primary events of the 125th Bottineau County Fair will be the annual Bottineau Jaycess Demo Derby on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in front of the grandstand.
Outside of the premier events at the fair, the county fair will have many activities that have been a main stay over the decades with a Midway, commercial and static exhibits, a cook-off, horse pull, pig races and a whole lot more.
