City's sales tax down from last year's first quarter

With the first quarter of sales tax completed in the city of Bottineau for 2014, the revenue for sales tax is down when compared to the first three months of 2013.

According to the city’s sale tax document in 2014, Bottineau brought in $254,133, which is down $28,436 from the first quarter in 2013, which saw a sales tax of $282,569.

If the months are broken down, sales tax revenue is as follows:

2014:

Jan. - $90,509
Feb. - $108,499
March - $55,125

2013:

Jan. - $111,697
Feb. - $78,888
March - $91,989

Although the tax revenue for 2014 is down from last year, if the revenue continues like the first quarter through the next three quarters, the city will go over a million dollars in sales tax for the year.
