After 311 career points and two straight North Dakota Class A point titles, Harrison Aide finally earned the distinction of being Mr. Hockey.
The announcement came this weekend at the State Hockey Tournament at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.
Despite his team not advancing to state after they were upset 5-4 in a tough game against seventh-seeded Mandan last weekend, Aide did get one prize—Senior Athlete of the Year.
During his senior campaign, Aide finished with 52 goals and 40 assists for 92 points in 24 games. He was just seven points short of tying the state record set by Mike Peluso in the early 1990s.
As a junior Aide made a push at the mark as he scored 90 points, but once again the Braves did not make it to state, which gave him less games to work with.
Aide has played varsity hockey since 2009-10, when he scored 30 points as an eighth grader.
Aide’s 92 points this past season is a school record, as is the 52 goals he scored.
He is also the career leader in Braves history for scoring.
The last Mr. Hockey for a Braves player came back in 2006-07 when Eric Herbel was awarded the honor.
