Bottineau is going to have an art gallery in its downtown business section starting March 1 which will offer a number of mediums to enjoy and purchase.

Todd Schild is the proprietor of the art studio, which he has named, Blues.

“I love Blues,” Schild said. “That’s all we will be playing.”

Schild makes his way to Bottineau from Cortiva, Idaho.

“Was doing housing rebuilds in Minot for a couple of years and met Susan Brandjord,” Schild said. “I came to Bottineau to do a project for her and ended up staying.”

Since coming to Bottineau, Schild has been conducting custom builds and renovation jobs in a construction business he calls JDM Contracting.

From an early age, Schild has always loved art, and when the Bergman Agency building became available at the intersection of Main and Sixth streets, he made the decision to open an art gallery.

“Me and three other artists right now will have pieces up in the gallery,” Schild said. “And, I plan on having a couple more coming on board, along with some local artists I am looking for.”

The artists come from Idaho, Washington and California and they will be selling pieces on commission and giving individuals the opportunity to just come into the gallery and enjoy art at their own pace.

There will be a number of mediums at Blues, which include contemporary, traditional, sculptures and much more.

Schild will be holding an open house at Blues on Saturday, March 1, starting at 7 p.m.

“We are going to have a lot in our opening,” Schild said.

His normal hours will be Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. (days and times are subject to change at the present moment).

Outside of art, Schild also enjoys craftsmanship and will be opening another store where he will offer custom built furniture, fabrics, upholstery and other items.

He has rented out the former Interior Designs by Connie building on Highway 5, which will have a show room to display his work.
