The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) Ladyjacks stopped a four game losing skid this past Wednesday as they won their only game of the week 81-64 over Forth Berthold.

The win avenged a 87-59 loss to the Ladystorm in Berthold back on Jan. 18.

DCB sprinted out to an early lead, using strong shooting and offense to lead 40-28 at halftime. The strong offense continued in the second half to hold off the Storm.

Storm guard Jessica Hale had 39 points in the loss.

“This was really a much needed win for us after two tough ones last week,” stated Ladyjacks head coach Wayne Johnson. “I was very pleased with the effort, especially after the way they had handled us at New Town.”

“It was a totally different game for us,” Johnson added.

Imani Scott, last week’s MonDak Player of the Week, finished with a team-best 23 points. Mary Jones came one assist short of a double-double with 15 points and nine assists. Savannah Bruce added 10 points, and Leah Parizek had a team-best six boards.

“We got to help pretty well and also were in position on the boards most of the time. They are a big, strong team so we sometimes had trouble finishing the play,” Johnson stated. “It certainly was not from lack of effort or positioning. I was pleased with both our offensive and defensive efficiency ratings.”

Johnson was also pleased with a 14-of-36 night from three-point range, especially after the way DCB played in Berthold.

“We struggled shooting the ball there but did a great job tonight, especially from the three point line,” Johnson stated.

DCB also forced 28 Ladystorm turnovers, and committed only 11 of their own in the victory.

“Overall it was a solid team effort that hopefully prepares us for the tough upcoming week,” Johnson stated.

DCB, 12-14 overall, closes out the season with three MonDak games this week. The first of those was yesterday as they hosted North Dakota State College of Science, but scores and stats were unavailable by press time. The Ladyjacks will travel to Devils Lake for a match up against Lake Region on Wednesday, and then close out the regular season with a game at home against Williston State on Sunday night.
