The Westhope-Newburg (WN) Sioux lost their fifth straight game, and their fifth straight in District 11 last Thursday with a 57-24 defeat at the hands of the Rugby Panthers.
However, the Sioux did welcome back junior Lauren Mach, who has been out since Christmas break with a hand injury.
She got back into her usual ways as leader of the Sioux in the loss with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Fellow juniors Paige Stratton and Molly Lodoen also did well in the game. Stratton finished with four points, seven boards and a team-best four assists, while Lodoen had five points in the game.
As a team though the Sioux continued to struggle offensively as they made only 24 percent of their baskets.
The loss dropped the Sioux to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in district play.
WN plays their final game of the district regular season at 7:15 p.m. in Drake-Anamoose.
The Lady Raiders are also 0-6 in the district and are 1-15 overall. The winner will be the seventh seed, and the loser will be the eighth seed for the upcoming District 11 Tournament.
The tournament, which is held in Rugby, begins on Friday, Feb. 28.
The Sioux play three home games leading into the district tournament next week.
