Gravseth inducted into Hall of Fame

Dennis Gravseth of Bottineau was granted the honor of being inducted into the Snowmobile (SND) North Dakota Hall of Fame for the major role he has played in defining the sport of snowmobiling in the state.
On Dec. 9, 2013, during the Snowmobiling North Dakota Hall of Fame banquet, Gravseth became one of only eight people in North Dakota to become inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame.
During his lifetime in snowmobiling, Gravseth conducted a number of items that has made snowmobiling a fun filled, family event in the state and has assisted others through the sport. They included.
- Original member of the Metigoshe Family Snowmobile Club, which established the snowmobile trail system that has expanded across the Turtle Mountains
- Assisted with fundraisers, state rides, legislation rides and originated a gas tax to fund the state’s snowmobile trail system
- Charter member with the Roaring 20s Snowmobile Club which keep the trails viable each and every year in North Dakota
- Instructed safety classes in snowmobiling, raised money for the Special Olympics through the sport and is a volunteer guide for the Pink Ribbon Riders through the Turtle Mountains as the organization raises money for breast cancer.
- Original guide and marker for International rides and schedules state rides through the Turtle Mountains
- In the 1990s, assisted in the the Turkey Roast event which provided funding to construct warming houses and gates through the Turtle Mountain Trail System.
- Officer in a variety of positions with the Metigoshe Family Snowmobile Club and has been the trail coordinator numerous times for the club
- Raised money for a number of community organizations, local fire departments, ambulance and has raffled off many snowmobiles to kids and adults, alike
- And, continues to work with landowners concerning the trail system, along with cleaning and marking trails and providing fun and safe trails for individuals to enjoy
Gravseth is pleased to be named to the organization’s Hall of Fame.
“I’m humbled by the award,” Gravseth said. “And, I’m honored to have been chosen.”
