A local resident of the Bottineau area has been arrested and convicted for embezzlement from a family owned business and will spend time in Wisconsin state prison.
Lisa Saykally, 46, entered a guilty plea to stealing $660,000 from her family’s business, Aqualand Manufacturing, which is located in the area of Woodruff, Wis.
Saykally’s embezzlement of the family owned business took place from 2004 through 2011. She eventually left the state and made residency in Bottineau.
On Jan. 9, 2014, in an Oneida County courtroom, Saykally was sentenced to two years in prison with five years of probation and ordered to repay $742,816 in restitution and fines.
According to Jonathan Stone, administrator of Bottineau Good Samaritan Society, Saykally had been employed at the facility up to time of conviction, but residents need not worry.
“Out of respect for current and former staff, the Good Samaritan Society does not comment directly on personnel issues,” Stone said. “Also, we have strict policies and procedures in place regarding resident privacy and center funds and have not seen any indications of impropriety in those areas.”
Bottineau County court documents reveal Saykally committed no crimes while she lived in Bottineau and only had paperwork for an extradition hearing.
