It was a tough trip to Glasgow, Mont. for the Bottineau 19U hockey team as they fell 1-0 twice to Glagow thanks to several penalties that derailed momentum.

In the first game last Saturday the Stars fell 1-0 in regulation, despite the Stars out shooting Glasgow 26-16.

“We outshot and outplayed Glasgow but penalties hurt us,” stated Stars head coach Matt Johnson.

Bottineau was whistled for five penalties, including three in the final frame, while Glasgow had only two penalties.

“It was hard to get any momentum in the third period with all of the penalties,” Johnson stated.

Stars goaltender Jacie Ceglowski stopped 15-of-16 shots.

Game two was even more heartbreaking for the Stars as they were able to keep Glasgow out of goal for the entirety of regulation, but Bottineau could not score either.

“We outplayed Glasgow even more in this game but could not find the back of the net,” Johnson stated. “We hit three posts and had several other close plays but ultimately could not score.”

About a minute into overtime Glasgow had a shot deflect off of a couple players and find the net for the game-winner.

Bottineau again outshot Glasgow 35-15, but were called for four penalties to Glasgow’s one.

The pair of tough losses drop the Stars to 6-5-2 on the season overall.

Next up for the Stars is a date with rival Crosby in Crosby on Friday night. Then the Stars return home for a pair of games on Saturday and one on Sunday.

On Saturday the Stars host Miles City at 2 and 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Bottineau will host Watford City at 10:30 a.m.
