Jared Nelson has accepted a position with the Bottineau County Extension Service and will serve as its county agent.

Nelson was born and raised in Park River, N.D. and is a 2009 graduate of Park River High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in crop and weed science with emphasis in agronomy from North Dakota State University in December of 2013.

Throughout high school and college, Nelson participated in a number of agricultural organizations, which included being a part of the Walsh Winners 4-H Club in Walsh County, a North Dakota 4-H Ambassador for five years and a member of the North Dakota State Farmhouse Fraternity.

As a county agent, Nelson will have a number of duties.

“I will work with people in the county and help to answer any ag related question that they may have about livestock, crops, or horticulture,” Nelson said. “I will also work closely with the other staff in the extension office to provide educational and leadership opportunities to 4-H members and the youth in the county. And, provide educational programs about various agricultural related topics.”

Nelson added that he is pleased to be the county’s extension service agent.

“I look forward to working with the people here and getting to know more people around the county,” Nelson said.
