A skilled Langdon Cardinals squad kept the Bottineau Stars on their toes all night and when all was said and done sent the Stars packing with a 56-36 win.
Bottineau (1-2) struggled hanging on to the ball all night long as they committed 15 turnovers in the game.
The Cardinals had four players in double figures in scoring in the win.
Leading Bottineau was junior Stephanie Brenden. She finished with 10 points, four assists, four steals and a pair of blocks from her point guard position.
Fellow junior Kennedy Olson also played well as she dropped in eight points and grabbed five boards, while blocking two shots.
Senior Danielle McDonald was strong on the boards with 10 rebounds and added five points and a pair of blocks.
Megan Saville had five points, and Rachael Fix and Courtney Gallagher rounded out the Stars’ scoring with four points each.
This was the second loss of the season for the Stars, they previously fell to the Dickinson Trinity Titans last weekend in the Shootout on the Prairie in Minot. The Stars bounced back with a win over Westhope-Newburg.
The Stars will play in their first home game at 4 p.m. on Saturday as they host Watford City.
The Stars then hit the road once again as they start a four-game road trip with a visit to St. John to take on the Woodchucks on Jan. 2.
Bottineau opens District 11 play with a rematch against Westhope-Newburg. The pair play for the second time this season at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in the first half of a girls/boys doubleheader.
