The Bottineau Braves bounced back from a 63-48 defeat from Our Redeemers last Tuesday to earn a 63-15 rout of Langdon in front of the Bottineau crowd on Friday night.
The win came from a strong defensive effort as the Braves allowed only three second-half points, and none in the fourth quarter.
Offensively the Braves had three players in double digits. Jake Carroll and Ethan Kerslake each had season-bests with 10 points. Bottineau was led by Parker Engelhard’s 13 points.
The offense was especially explosive in the second quarter as they scored 23 points.
Friday’s win was preceded by a 63-48 loss to Our Redeemer’s, also at home, last Tuesday evening.
The Braves jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, but the Knights ran the gamut the rest of the half and led 34-11 after a 32-2 run to end the half.
Bottineau trailed by 25 after three quarters, but they made a run in the fourth quarter to draw the game to 15 points.
Engelhard had 16 points after hitting a few threes late in the fourth quarter. Christian St. Claire added 11 points.
Davis Koppinger led the Knights with 23 points.
The Braves will play in the Mandan Holiday Tournament beginning on Thursday. The tournament lasts until Saturday.
After the holiday break the Braves will play in Kenmare on Jan. 3. The next home game for Bottineau will be on Jan. 9 as they host Dunseith.
Their District 11 opener for the Braves (2-3) will be on Jan. 7 when they travel to Westhope to take on the Westhope-Newburg Sioux in the second half of a girls/boys doubleheader.
