The temperature might have been 22 below zero on Dec. 7, but that didn’t discourage local folks from going out into the cold weather to take in St. Andrew’s Hospital Auxiliary’s Holly House Bazaar. The event took in $12,000 to assist the health center’s medical departments.
There was a large sized crowd in attendance for the Holly House Bazaar, which took place in the hospital’s cafeteria. Individuals enjoyed a craft and bake sale and were treated to carmel rolls, coffee, tea and hot cocoa.
The event lasted four hours, but in just 240 minutes the auxiliary raised $12,000 thanks to the kindness of those who attended.
The money will be utilized to purchase reclining chairs for the health center’s operating room, gait belts to assist in the transfer of patients and a Pulse Oximeter which is a non-invasive way to measure a patient’s oxygen saturation.
Two raffle drawings took place at the bazaar where Brad Knudson won an iPad sponsored by State Bank of Bottineau, and Susan Nelson won an electric grill sponsored by North Central Education Cooperative.
Mona Marchus, auxiliary member for St. Andrew’s Ladies Auxiliary, stated that even with the cold weather, the auxiliary members were pleased so many individuals came out to support the event.
“We want to say thank you to the community for coming on such a cold day,” Marchus said.
“Without the support of the community the auxiliary would have a very hard time to supplement the health center’s needs.”
