After a 26-8 season that was filled with numerous awards the Bottineau Stars volleyball team was recognized for their efforts in the classroom as well.

The Stars were recently awarded the North Dakota High School Athletic Association Scholar Award.

The award is given annually to teams who’s grade point average is 3.2 or higher.

“Given the time away from the classroom and the late nights involved with competitions, we are extremely proud of Coach Dunrud and all the members of his volleyball team,” stated Bottineau High School principal Joel Bickford. “This award reflects our commitment to academics and extracurricular excellence. This team is a great representation of our school, our community and the families of the individuals on the team.”

“The certificate will be placed in our trophy case and is an example for others to attempt,” Bickford added.

On the court the Stars won the District 11 regular season and tournament. Their season ended when they fell to Des Lacs-Burlington in the opening round of the Region 6 Tournament.
