The Dakota College at Bottineau basketball team won two of three contests this past week to pass into the double digit win column.
The Jacks improved to 11-2 on the year after beating Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC) and Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) this past week.
DCB also dropped a game to the top-25 Division I program of Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo. 89-77.
First the Jacks posted a dominant 10th win as they beat down the Mikinocks from TMCC in a 113-61 victory.
DCB played stellar defense and scored with ease in the first half and led 62-18 at the break.
Scoring was balanced, but freshman Jalyn Turner played his best game as a Jack with 19 points, including 4-for-5 from down town.
Travis Frye, Patrick Robinson and Julian Vasquez each added 11 and sophomore Billy Engel had 10 in the win.
DCB shot a strong 44.8 percent from beyond the arc and more than 55 percent from the field.
DCB then followed that game with a tough 12-point loss to Sheridan College as part of the Sheridan Classic last weekend.
The game was much closer than the score indicated because the Jacks tried to foul late in the game to try and stick with Sheridan.
Frederic Dure and Jamir Andrews led Sheridan with 24 and 21 points respectively in the win.
DCB trailed by 10 at the break, but made a run in the second half to draw the game within striking distance.
However, Sheridan held on to hand DCB their second loss of the year, both to ranked Division I schools.
Xavier Cruz had 16 points off the bench and Julian Vasquez added 15 points for DCB.
Gilberton Shojgreen had nine points and nine boards in the losing effort.
DCB closed out the Classic with a 93-86 victory over CNCC.
It took them overtime to eclipse the Division I foe as the game was back-and-forth throughout.
DCB trailed by one at halftime, but the game ended in regulation as a tie. The Jack scored 17 points in the overtime to win.
Vasquez had a big game with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Jacks.
Also in double digits were Turner (19), Cruz, Wes Harrison and Shojgreen each had 10 points. Shojgreen added eight boards as well.
The Jacks next contest is at 8 p.m. at home against Candeska.
