The Bottineau Chamber of Commerce will host a Parade of Lights on Main Street this Christmas season and is hoping to brighten up the town with a variety of holiday radiance.
“The Parade of Lights is going to be a parade down Main Street with cars, trucks, trailers or possibly even snowmobiles, anything that can light up. I think it would be fun to even have someone walking in the parade with battery operated lights. I just want people to have fun with it,” said Clint Reinoehl, director of Bottineau’s Chamber of Commerce. “They could use 12 volt lights, battery operated lights, a generator or power inverter. Lot’s of different options, like a horse drawn carriage would be fun, too.”
The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, and anyone is welcome to participate in the event.
“We’re having it early enough so businesses should still be open. People can just step out to watch it and then step back in and keep shopping,” Reinoehl said. “And, anybody can join in the parade, individuals, groups, businesses and even pets.”
During that weekend, the Taste of Bottineau will take place Friday evening and the Winter Wonderland Vendor Show will take place at the Bottineau Armory on Saturday, along with a free matinee at the Botno Theatre.
“We are also encouraging open houses, extended hours and possibly some treats on the streets,” Reinoehl said. “The Chamber is really trying to make that weekend full of fun times.”
Individuals, interested in participating, can contact Reinoehl at 228-3849, at bcc@utma.com or visit him at the Chamber Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“I am hoping for a decent turnout this year,” Reinoehl said. “I would really like it to become an annual event that can just keep growing.”
