A two vehicle accident occurred on Nov. 25 in Bottineau County which left one individual injured and transported to a burn center.
The accident occurred northwest of Souris when a semi-trailer and pickup collided at an intersection on a gravel road.

Steve Watson, sheriff of Bottineau County, who was the first officer at the scene, stated that it appeared the semi with a dump trailer failed to caution at the intersection and the pickup struck the semi’s box.

The pickup then went under the semi’s trailer where it was struck by the rear wheels. As the pickup came out from under the semi-trailer it caught fire.

The semi was left on its side completely across the road.
The pickup was completely totaled and the driver was severely injured and burned.

He was taken to Trinity Health Center in Minot and then transferred to a burn center.

The condition of the semi driver is not known, but it appears he was not seriously injured.

The driver of the semi-trailer is employed by Farden Construction, while the driver of the pickup works for Murex Petroleum. The names of the drivers have not been released.

The Bottineau County Sheriff’s Department has turned over the accident to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), who has not released any information about the accident. As information comes in, the Bottineau Courant will publish the NDHP’s findings.
