The Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) football team completed a record-setting season this past Saturday with a 6-0 victory over Trinity Bible College.

The Jacks concluded their regular season with an 8-2 record, a record number of victories since the program restarted back in 2008.

DCB has also been contacted by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) about potentially being selected to play in one of nine NJCAA bowl games.

“We have been contacted about the possibility of playing in a bowl game in December,” stated Jacks head coach Tim Pfeifer. “We will know more and will be sure to let you know if that comes true.”

The Jacks’ final win came on the road as they traveled to Ellendale to take on the Lions for the second time on the season.

DCB earned the 6-0 victory with a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter from Willie Fair from one yard out. It was the lone score in five trips to the red zone for the Jacks.

“The Jacks struggled all day scoring in the red zone,” Pfeifer stated. “The offense was able to move the ball but was hurt by penalties, a wet field, a 25 to 30 mile an hour wind and missed assignments at crucial times. The only drive we scored on we had no penalties and played good football.”

Miscues were what Pfeifer said hurt the offense all day.

“It was a tough day to move the ball and score with the field conditions and the wind but we did an OK job,” Pfeifer stated. “We just had too many mistakes to get the ball in the end zone.”

However, the defense held up for the Jacks, as they turned out a strong performance and kept the Lions in check all day.

“The defense had a good day,” Pfeifer stated. “We kept them out of the end zone which is always a great thing.”

DCB did allow a few big plays though, so it was not perfect.

“For the most part the defense played well. When we gave up some yards it was because of missed assignments,” Pfeifer stated. “Overall a good performance by the defense.”

As for the bowl games, if the Jacks are chosen they could play anywhere from, Syracuse, N.Y., Copperas Cove, Texas or Hutchinson, Kan. The closest potential bowl game would be The Graphic Edge Bowl, held in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
