Choir director Jaque Marum is bringing her music students in the Bottineau School District back to the stage to perform another musical melody after the great success and sold-out performances of last years show.
“The Bottineau Public School’s Choir Department will be performing their ‘World Tour’ 2013 concert. The concert will feature the singing and dancing talents of approximately 160 students in grades five through 12,” Marum said. “The audience will hear selections from famous Broadway shows such as ‘Les Miserables,’ ‘Cabaret,’ ‘The Lion King’ and more.
“This year’s music was selected because it represents different countries around the world. As the students perform, they will be taking the audience on a world tour,” Marum added. “This show is a high energy show with singing, dancing, costumes, and more and we encourage our audience to sing and clap along.”
‘World Tour’ will take place this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 25 and 26) at the Holwell Auditorium with the curtain going up at 7 p.m. each evening.
Individuals who want to purchase tickets can from any choir student or at the high school office. If tickets are not sold out prior to the performances, individuals will be able to purchase tickets at the door for the same price.
“Last year’s tickets were sold out,” Marum said. “So, I would suggest getting your tickets early.”
On the night of the performances, any available tickets will be sold starting at 6 p.m.
The music melody is not only a music production, but a fundraiser held to raise money for college scholarships for local students who want to pursue a music degree. Some of the money will also be utilized to send students to music camp. The funding is being raised through a silent auction on a number of themed baskets which will be in the outside lobby of the Holwell Auditorium.
