A five-set victory over Trinity Bible College last Thursday gave the Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) volleyball team their fifth win this season.

The Ladyjacks jumped out to an early lead on the Lions with a 25-19 win in the first set.

However, Trinity answered with a win of their own (25-22) in the second set to even things up.

The Ladyjacks dominated the third set with a 25-15 victory, but the Lions once again showed their resilience with a hard-fought 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Both teams clung to leads in the fifth and final set, but the Ladyjacks held on the longest and took home a 15-13 win to get the match victory.

Freshman Savannah Bruce led the charge for the Ladyjacks offense as she had 13  kills. Justin Nordin, who returned from injury added 12 kills.

Sophomore Ashleigh Aufforth dished out 45 assists, and also had an ace from the service line.

Tessa Walters had nine kills and Krista Lesmann had seven as the Ladyjacks earned the victory.

DCB also played at home last Monday as they hosted Lake Region State College (LRSC).

The game was a ‘pink out’ as the audience and the team wore pink to support breast cancer research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Ladyjacks fought hard in the first set, but the Lady Royals earned a 26-24 victory.

LRSC used the momentum from the first set victory to cruise to a 25-17 victory in the second set.

Despite a strong DCB effort the Lady Royals did sweep the Ladyjacks with a 25-21 win in the third set.

Walters led the way for DCB offensively with seven kills. Sophomore Leah Parizek added three kills, two blocks and two aces in the losing effort.

The split on the week pushes the Ladyjacks to 5-15 overall on the season.

DCB will travel to Devils lake twice this week. First on Wednesday for their second match up against the Lady Royals. The second time for the LRSC Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The final home game and final regular season for the Ladyjacks will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when they host North Dakota State College of Science
