Bottineau native McKenzie Jensen verbally committed to join the Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks for the 2013-14 basketball season.
“We are happy to have McKenzie on board as a Ladyjack,” stated Ladyjacks head coach Wayne Johnson. “She is a hardworking player who will add depth to our front court position.”
Jensen is a five-foot, eight-inch guard who started for the Bottineau Stars last season. As a senior she averaged 4.3 points per game and was second on the team in steals (31) and three pointers (14).
“Our offense relies on the three point shot and we always welcome players who can hit that shot,” Johnson stated. “McKenzie possesses strong character and will be a positive addition to our college and program.”
Jensen is the daughter of Brian and Kelly Jensen of Bottineau.
She has yet to sign her letter of intent, but verbally committed to play for DCB along with fellow Stars teammate Whitney Brandvold, who signed earlier this year.
Monson signs with BSC
Bottineau Braves standout golfer Zackery Monson recently signed a letter of intent to play golf at Bismarck State University.
Monson, who lettered five times and advanced to the Class B State Tournament four times in his career for Bottineau, joined Caitlin Wilcox and Jordan Beyer as recent signees of the Mystics.
BSC’s head golf coach is Michael Herzog. The Mystics compete against Jamestown, Lake Region State College, United Tribes Communtiy College and Valley City State. They are in Region XIII of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Their home course is Prairie West in Mandan, where Monson recently competed for the Class B State Tournament.
