Floyd Lampart rolled into Bottineau looking for a place to do some laundry last Friday. That in and of itself isn’t too unusual, but what is, is Lampart came into town on a bicycle saddles hanging off of either side, and he traveled 9,000 miles to get here.
The 67-year-old is riding the perimeter of the United States, 12,000 miles in all to support the Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) in Kanab, Utah.

He’s calling his trip “Pedal for Paws” and has raised more than $40,000 for his cause thus far.
Lampart is chronicling his travels on Facebook under the ‘Pedal for Paws Bike Ride’ name. He began and will end in Lake Clear, N.Y., and is hoping to raise the lofty goal of $100,000.

Lampart has five dogs, which he adopted from BFAS.

BFAS is a national animal welfare organization that promotes no-kill programs and hopes to bring about a day when there aren’t anymore homeless pets.

Lampart found the laundromat, and did his laundry before leaving town.
