Dakota College at Bottineau recently made Kathrin Jetty their latest recruit for the 2014 spring season.

Jetty, a third basemen/catcher from Columbia Falls, Mont., signed her letter of intent to play with the Ladyjacks. She played and lettered in all four of her years of high school at the varsity level.

“We feel that Kathrin will be a very good player for us, both offensively and defensively,” stated Ladyjacks coach Mike Getzlaff. “Kathrin comes from a very strong softball program at Columbia Falls. She will bring a lot of energy and experience to our program.”

During her high school career Jetty was named most improved player as a freshman, became a starter as a sophomore and was on the All-Conference second team. She moved up to the All-Conference first team her junior and senior seasons. She was also named Defensive Player of the Year.

In Jetty’s senior season her team placed third place at state. They lost to the eventual champion Frenchtwon 3-2 and runner-up Polson 5-4 during the tournament.

Jett was Columbia Falls’ number four hitter as a senior and batted .370 with 18 runs batted and two home runs in 25 games.

“We lacked power last season and she will be a great addition in that respect,” Getzlaff stated.

Defensively Jetty committed only four errors in 157 innings, which finished her season with a .934 fielding percentage.

“We struggled on defense as well and Kathrin, with her versatility, will help solidify our defense,” Getzlaff stated. “We are looking forward to next year with the addition of Kathrin and the other freshman that have chosen DCB to continue their education and softball careers.”

Jetty will join a Ladyjacks team that advanced out of the state playoffs and to its first Region XIII tournament in 2013, where they lost two close games.
