Sheila and Brad Sturlaugson have opened a boutique in downtown Bottineau called The Cool Moose and will be offering a variety of merchandise, along with a unique service that the city of Bottineau does not offer.

"The main purpose of the business will be embroidering and silk-screening,” Sturlaugson said. “Embroidering, that’s the big thing right now, and I think that’s what Bottineau really needs.
“I am finding out that a lot of people in town are looking to get things embroidered, like jackets and other items,” said Sturlaugson, who added that her husband, Brad would be assisting her with the embroidering and silk-screening. “Most people order their jackets from places like Minot. So, we want to offer that service right here and make it convenient for people in our community.”

Sturlaugson stated that the machine has been ordered and that she will be taking training on embroidering in Denver, Co, and Las Vegas, Nev.
The boutique, itself, will also be offering such merchandise as clothes, accessories, gift items and so much more.

“The merchandise is going to be responsibly priced and something that nobody else offers,” she said. “I will also be offering merchandise that has a Bottineau and Turtle Mountain theme to it, items on Tommy Turtle, Lake Metigoshe, the Metigoshe Mermaid and from our store’s own name, Moose merchandise.”

When it comes to her clothing line it will primarily come from the LA market, along with some other buyers. She will also have sizes from small to plus size for her customers.

Individuals who are looking for antiques will have The Cool Moose as an option, too.

“We will also have some eclectic antiques here,” Sturlaugson said. “A lit bit of everything for everyone.”

Sturlaugson is also Brokers 12 real estate agent and she will have her Brokers 12 office in her building for those looking for property.

Sturlaugson said that she is excited for her store to open.

“I like being around people, helping people, and being around the public,” she said.

The Cool Moose will open this Thursday, June 27, with a grand opening.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 to noon.

The Cool Moose is located in the former Bergman Building on the corner of Main and Sixth Streets.
