The Bottineau School Board and the Bottineau Education Association (BEA)met on Thursday, June 20, to further discuss the teacher contracts for the year. Before this meeting was held, the school board held an executive session meeting.
Those present from the school board were Matt Johnson, Mark Pewe and Kimberlee Berntstein. Those present from the BEA were Rodney Schmidt and Dana Alinder.
The BEA was hoping to hear that they were no longer at impasse, and were only there to listen while the school board was ready to negotiate again. Because it was not a scheduled negotiations meeting, they were not permitted to open negotiations again.
The outcome of this meeting was to set the final negotiations meeting. This final negotiations meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 2, in the Bottineau High School Board Room.
Both sides now have to give one final effort to reach an agreement before they can file for impasse.
“This will be the last ditch effort for both sides.” Schmidt said. “We are not that far apart and we (BEA) hope this can be the final meeting.”
