Dakota College at Bottineau women’s basketball recently added another recruit as Zirahuen Hernandez signed a letter of intent to play for the Ladyjacks in 2013-14.

Hernandez, a five-foot, five-inch guard from Wolf Point, Mont. averaged 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game as a senior and was named All-Conference.

“The Ladyjacks are very pleased to have added Zirahuen to our 2013 roster,” stated Ladyjacks head coach Wayne Johnson. “We believe she will fit in well with what we like to do.”

She shot 45 percent from the field and nearly 30 percent from beyond the arc during her senior season, which was her third season of lettering for the Wolves.

“She is a strong guard who can get to the paint and make things happen. She shoots the ball well from beyond the three point arc and we need those types of players to stretch the defense,” Johnson stated. “Zirahuen is a hard worker with a great attitude.”

Hernandez is the daughter of Bev and Curt Azure of Wolf Point and Armando and Alicia Hernandez of Powell, Wyo.

“She consistently has been on the Wolf Point honor roll and displays the qualities we look for in a student/athlete,” Johnson stated. “We expect Zirahuen to be a contributor to the Ladyjacks success in the upcoming seasons.”

Hernandez is the fourth 2013-14 recruit for DCB, who won the Region XIII title for the second time in three years this past March.
