Susan Schmutzler has accepted a position at North Star Community Credit Union and will be employed by the financial institution as its branch manager.

Schmutzler was born and raised on a farm in rural Minot and is a 1972 graduate of Minot High School.

After graduating from high school, Schmutzler accepted a position with a credit union in Minot as a teller. She accepted numerous positions within the credit union over the years and eventually was named the CEO of the business.

For Schmutzler and her family, who have a weekend cabin at Lake Metigoshe, they have wanted to move to the lake permanently. Recently, they purchased a home in Hahn’s Bay and Schmutzler accepted the position as branch manager at North Star.

FAMILY

Schmutzler and her husband, Warren, have been married for 40 years. They have four children and three grandchildren.

Their children include Shawn who is 39, Wendy who is 36 and Jersey who is seven. Their son, Wade, recently passed away at the age of 15.
The Schmutzlers’ grandchildren are Katija who is 15, Caleb who is 13 and Garret who is 11.

CREDIT UNION AND AREA

Schmutzler is pleased to be the branch manager of Bottineau’s credit union and to have the opportunity to live in the Bottineau area.

“I love the credit union. It is a very busy branch, there’s a lot going on, and that is what is great about it. The credit union is about helping people, and I love people, and I am more than willing to help them with their finances, budgeting or whatever I can do for them,” Schmutzler said. “Credit unions have always been my life. My grandfather was a co-founder of a credit union in the Garrison and Cole Harbor area and my father was on the board of directors at Town and Country Credit Union in Minot. It has been part of my family all my life. And, co-ops are so neat because they originally started in Germany and it had to do with helping farmers and I am a farmer’s daughter. I grew up on the farm and did all those great things.

“And, Lake Metigoshe is a great place to live. My family loves jet skiing, knee boarding and snowmobiling,” Schmutzler added. “Lake Metigoshe is like a paradise. It offers so much.”
