The Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks season came to a close last Wednesday in the opening round of the Region XIII Tournament.
DCB fell to host United Tribes Technical College 72-57 in the contest, which ended the Jacks season.
The Lumberjacks led by seven at halftime despite playing without their top two scorers in Kristoff Walker and Jayden McMillin.
McMillin was out after suffering a concussion a few games prior, and Walker broke both his fibula and tibia last week.
The Thunderbirds made a second half run to capture the lead. DCB tied the game at 46 with nine minutes to go in the contest. However, the Thunderbirds scored 13 straight points to run the Jacks out of the game.
Picking up the scoring role was freshman guard Billy Engel, who finished with his second-best effort of the season offensively as he dropped 20 points. Engel was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Also in double figures for the Jacks was freshman Marquis Thomas (11 points) and sophomore Colby Boyes (10 points).
Jarell Grant had 17 to lead the Thunderbirds, who had five players in double figures.
The win pushed UTTC to the finals of the region tournament, where they fell 62-61 to Gogebic Community College.
DCB finished the season with an 11-21 record.
