For Bottineau High School senior, Jeremy Dissette, he has taken one step closer in reaching his dream to be on the big stage of Hollywood and Broadway recently when he was signed to a well established talent agency.
Dissette attended an open audition event in Minot through the John Robert Powers Agency in early February where he was not only given a call back, but offered an agent who will assist him toward his goal of acting.
“I first heard about these auditions from my brother who had heard about it on the radio,” Dissette said. “I had to perform for a lady called, Carin. She had me act out a commercial for her. I did, and she said that she would talk to the other reps and call me back if they were interested.”
Before the day was out, Dissette’s phone was ringing where Carin set-up an appointment for the following day to come in for another audition.
“I honestly didn’t expect to get a call back because there were over 200 people there and I thought my chances were slim,” Dissette said. “I showed up the next day and she had me act out the commercial again.”
After the call back, Carin informed Dissette she would like to work with him and he signed with the agency. By signing with the agency, Dissette is guaranteed to be signed with a talent agent.
The next step for Dissette is to prepare to be chosen by the right agent.
“The agency is helping me get signed,” Dissette said. “They had me attend classes to get properly coached the last couple of weekends. The classes were really helpful and the coach knew what needed to be done to impress the agents.
“I am really excited for March 9 and I am going to give it my all,” he added. “I am sure that everything will turn out just fine.
Dissette has been an actor for the past four years.
“I started as a freshman and I have been in nine plays. I am working on my tenth. I’ve been in high school productions, community theater productions and the Missoula Children’s Theater as well,” he said. "I love acting because I enjoy seeing the looks on people faces when you deliver a certain line that just captures the audience."
The John Robert Powers Agency is the same agency that signed Minot native, Josh Duhamel, known for a number of films and television shows like the “Transformers” series, “Las Vegas,” “All my Children,” and just recently in 2013 “Movie 43,” “Safe Haven,” “Scenic Route” and “You’re Not You,” which is in post production.
With Dissette on his way to the John Roberts Powers Agency, he will no doubt be capturing the audience’s hearts with his presence on the screen and stage.
