The Dakota College at Bottineau Jacks concluded their regular season this past week with a trio of losses against MonDak opponents.

The Jacks dropped contests against United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) last Monday, Lake Region State College (LRSC) last Wednesday and Williston State College (WSC) last Sunday.

The week began last Monday with a 92-73 loss to UTTC in Bismarck.

UTTC got off to a hot start and led by 15 at halftime. Though the game was closer in the second half, the Jacks didn’t have enough to get past the Thunderbirds.

The T-birds shot lights out, hitting 52.2 percent of shots from the field, including 47.1 percent from beyond the arc. Seven UTTC players scored more than eight points, including five in double digits.
In contrast the Jacks shot 41.5 pecent from the field and 36.4 percent from three-point range. DCB was led by Kristoff Walker’s 24 points performance, as he led all scorers. Also in double figures was sophomore Colby Boyes, who hit 6-of-10 three pointers to score 18 points in the loss.

The Jacks dropped their second contest of the week in a close match with LRSC on Wednesday evening in Devils Lake.

Despite shooting a blistering 55 percent from the field, including 11-for-22 from beyond the arc, the Jacks fell in the game.

The Royals nabbed 13 offensive rebounds that led to several second chance buckets. They also hit 11 free throws to nip the Jacks in the game.

Walker again was the leader for the Jacks as he had 29 points, seven assists and four steals in the loss. Also in double figures for DCB were Dashamoe McCarty (15), Boyes (12) and Tyler Storseth (11).

For the Royals Melvin Langstaff and Gage Deis combined for 50 points in the win.

DCB closed their regular season with one of their best efforts of the season in a 73-63 loss against Williston State.

DCB led for most of the first half, but the Tetons tied the game at 30 at halftime. The Jacks fell behind in the second half, and trailed by four with 1:12. However, they were forced to foul, and the Tetons sunk their shots to earn the 10-point win.

DCB was without top scorers Kristoff Walker and Jayden McMillin. McMillin is still recovering from injuries and Walker’s season was ended last week with a leg injury.

The Jacks played a stall-type game that tried to hold the athletic Tetons to a low score. The Jacks out rebounded the Tetons 35-33 and shot 40 percent from three point range and 90 percent from the charity stripe.

Boyes finished with a career-best 20 points, including 5-for-9 from long range. Also dropping shots was Storseth, who hit 4-of-10 from beyond the arc for 12 points.

Chris Turner had his career-best game in the loss as well, as he finished with eight points and 13 rebounds.

The Jacks will travel to Bismarck to compete against UTTC in the Region XIII West Sub-region Tournament. A tip-off time isn’t scheduled yet at this time. The winner of that will travel to take on the East Sub-region winner at the East Sub-region winner’s court on Saturday. The winner of that game advances to the District 7 Championship.

DCB finished the season with an 11-20 overall record and an 0-10 MonDak record.
