Janel Agnes has opened Clear Path Wellness in Bottineau’s downtown business district and will be offering a different alternative in wellness through education on nutrition and natural alternatives.

“Growing up I always had an interest in natural supplements. My grandmother always had vitamins and natural remedies that peaked my curiosity,” Agnes said. “As a pharmacist, I developed a nagging feeling that rather than blocking the process to stop a symptom, or to get a desired effect, more should be done to support the body’s natural ability to heal. If we get a cut on our finger, the body knows how to mend it, so if the body is given the tools, it can do the repair job itself. Many things can block the ability of the body to repair itself. Some possible culprits are food intolerance, toxins, infections, sluggish digestion, stress and lifestyle choices,” Agnes added. “Pharmaceuticals have a place, but I have found that much can be done with a more holistic, natural approach.”

Agnes has been a pharmacist for 22 years, but she has been attending educational seminars to learn more about holistic methods. This past year, while at a seminary she became extremely interested in the holistic approach to wellness.

“This holistic approach I craved is what I learned about at a BioEnergentic Methodologies Seminar in March of 2012. It was exciting to see so many holistic practitioners experiencing dramatic improvements in the health of their clients. During that seminar, I saw bioenergetic assessment was used to uphold the design of the body in order to uncover the layers that blocked healing potential,” Agnes said. “I learned then of the Interactive Query System (IQS), which is described as an advanced Interrogatory Biofeedback tool.

“The IQS was designed by a Ph.D physicist to record health information by measuring electrical conductivity of the skin. The IQS has over 30 years of science and application behind it,” Agnes stated. “During my IQS training in Utah it amazed me to see how many functions of the body could be inquired about along with the potential stressors, and in a noninvasive manner. A lot of ground can be covered in a relatively short amount of time. The IQS allows me to facilitate communications between the client and the IQS software to determine areas of blockage in the natural flow to wellness and to find natural measures that can be taken to unlock wellness.”

The IQS machine is connected to a computer, while the a individual holds a brass cylinder in one hand which is connected to IQS device, while the individual conducted the tests holds a pen looking device, or probe, which is also connect to the IQS component and is used to touch meridian points (a line of acupuncture points) on either the patient’s hand or foot.

The brass cylinder emits a low, direct electrical current which is completed through the probe and register the flow of current through the body. The current flow is then sent to IQS software on the computer which grants information on the health status of the individual’s body and how it can assist the body to better health.

“The IQS is used to communicate with the body’s innate intelligence (the deep intelligence of the body that orchestrates the function of the body, kind of an orchestra). This is done by measuring skin conductance which is monitored on the IQS software. It is not diagnostic, but is a tool by which one can view areas of stress and devise a remedy plan to bring balance to those areas,” Agnes said. “The IQS also allows one to determine if there is value for one’s health in using specific products, foods or change in lifestyle habits. An analogy of the use of this device would be that each body has a story with many chapters and sometimes chapters get difficult to read, the IQS searches for those hard to read chapters and assists in re-writing the story that leads to balanced health.”

Agnes’ goals with Clear Path Wellness are to guide people to a healthier life.

“I work with people to understand the design of the body and what we can do to support it in keeping the flow system of the body open,” she said. “My hope is to educate people about the design of the body and to encourage them to take an active approach to improve their health and quality of life. The better care a person takes of themselves will be the biggest factor in their return to wellness.”

Individuals can make appointments to be assessed by Agnes or to discuss specific holistic methods for certain aliments with her.

“During assessments session, I listen to the client’s goals, educate on the designs of the body and use the IQS to lead the client toward steps needed to unlock wellness,” Agnes said. “As a holistic health care provider, I act as a guide to empower people to recognize their options and make choices to give their body what it needs to return to balance. This personal health design approach is customized to the individual and provides the knowledge and support of client’s needs to clear their path to wellness.”

Services at Clear Path Wellness include intolerance assessment, nutritional assessment, hormone stress survey, review of system vitality, supplement evaluation and survey  of body system stress.
The Clear Path Wellness office opened in the Bottineau Tech Center on Aug. 8. Since opening, Agnes has seen numerous clients.

“I have been very pleased with the response of the community, and people get excited to hear about baby steps that can be made to encourage the healing process, steps that aren’t overwhelming,” Agnes said. “One favorite my customers have returned for is a remedy for viral infections. It works great when used preventatively before getting on a plane where everyone is in close quarters or to speed recovery from colds and flus.

“Clients who tried my products for allergies have been amazed at how quickly they have relief without debilitating side effects. The fish oil stocked at Clear Path Wellness is proven to be free of heavy metals to protect the safety of clients. The probiotics available at Clear Path Wellness are heat and antibiotic resistant,” she added. “Not every supplement has the same quality so professional grade supplements are available at Clear Path Wellness.”
