On Monday, Feb. 11, Tim Mundt, 49, of Westhope had a bond hearing in the Bottineau Courthouse where he was charged with the murder of Jessie Kirk, 40, of Westhope. Mundt’s bond was set at a half million dollars with surety. Northeast Judicial District Court Judge John C. McClintock, Jr. conducted the bond hearing.
According to Bottineau County’s States Attorney, Swain Benson III, the murder is a closed case at the moment because the investigation into Kirk’s murder is still ongoing. However, Benson did state that Kirk was shot and killed by a rifle.
Mundt’s murder charge is a Class AA Felony, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if found guilty.
Mundt’s initial appearance will take place this Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m., in the Bottineau County Courthouse.
