It was a fun evening of board and card games at the First Lutheran Church on Feb. 7 during its Game Night for All Ages event.
“Our Parish Ed committee wanted to offer something where people of all ages, (young kids, teens, parents, grandparents, couples and singles) could get together to socialize in a fun and friendly atmosphere,” said Pastor Desiree Uhrich of Bottineau’s First Lutheran Church. “The main goal is to give people a social option in the dead of winter when we start to feel cooped up. Another goal is to turn off the television, computer and video games and play some board games and cards so people can interact with each other.”
During Thursday evening, individuals played such games as Monopoly, LIFE, Yahtzee and many more games. The church also provided its guests with popcorn and lemonade to add to the flavor of the evening.
The First Lutheran Church will hold game night the first Thursday of every month until the summer starts, and then will start the event again when fall begins.
“We plan to offer Thursday game night at least two more times this winter,” Uhrich said. “We’ve considered having “White Elephant” Bingo for one of the nights.”
Game Night for All Ages is open to the general public, and it takes place in the basement of the First Lutheran Church.
Individuals, who wish to attend, can also bring their own games with them to the event.
“If people want to bring games, they can, but we will have several games already there,” Uhrich said. “If you don’t know how to play any of the games, it’s a chance to learn.”
The event starts at 7 p.m.
