Bottineau 19U scoops up two more wins

The Bottineau 19U hockey team picked up two more wins this past weekend as they inch closer to a top seed in the state tournament held in early March.

Bottineau won games against Crosby on Saturday (4-0) and Langdon on Sunday (10-1) to earn conference victories.

In Saturday’s victory, Bottineau hosted the Crosby Comets and managed to shut them down for the entire afternoon, running away to a 4-0 shut out victory.

Goalie Jacie Ceglowski stopped 22 shots on her way to earning her third shut out of the season.
Bottineau out shot the Comets 36-22 in the win.
Ashley Blue kicked off the scoring for Bottineau early in the first period as she took a pass from Sonja Gilje to notch the goal.

Later in the first Paige Vad beat Crosby goaltender Tierany Johnson for a goal. Karlee McCloud picked up her first assist of the game on the play.

While the Bottineau defense stiffened, the offense found a rhythm in the second period as they put 17 shots on net in the period.

The first goal came late in the period as Blue scored for the second time in the game. Blue and Victoria Gullett each assisted in the game.

Gullett and McCloud would get involved again 41 seconds later as McCloud found Gullett for a strong shot past Johnson.

Bottineau doubled up their win total on Sunday as they traveled to Langdon and beat the Blades 10-1.
Scoring happened early and often for Bottineau as they notched three goals in the first period.

Vad struck first for Bottineau as she used a pass from Blue to get a goal.

Natalie Bahr scored her first goal of the weekend later in the period to make it 2-0 Bottineau. Alexis Kihle notched a helper on the play.

After Langdon drew the score to 2-1, Blue scored her lone goal of the game as McCloud earned an assist to make it 3-1.

From there on out it was all Bottineau as they scored seven more goals, three in the second and four in the third period.

Vad scored her second goal of the game to start the second period. McCloud and Bailey Neubauer each assisted on the goal.

Neubauer would go on to score three goals in the final two periods. Two of Neubauer’s goals were unassisted and the other was assisted by Gilje.

Also scoring goals in the final two frames were: Severson (Bahr), Gullett (Vad) and Bahr (McCloud).

Bottineau out shot the Blades 49-19 in the win. Ceglowski had 18 saves in 19 opportunities.

Bottineau is still near the top conference standings after the two wins. Overall Bottineau is 18-2 with one exhibition loss to Bismarck and their lone conference loss coming on Jan. 26 to undefeated Sidney, Mont.

Bottineau is scheduled for only one game this next weekend at 1 p.m. at Watford City on Sunday.
