Area players honored

Two players with ties to the Bottineau area were named MonDak Players of the Week last week.

Shakira Walker, a sophomore guard for Dakota College at Bottineau, was named female athlete of the week and Justin McCloud, a freshman guard for Bismarck State and formerly Bottineau High School was named male athlete of the week.

Walker scored 49 points on 63 percent shooting, grabbed 23 rebounds, nabbed five steals and dished out three assists in two games last week for the Ladyjacks.

She is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Plantation High School.

McCloud had 57 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists a steal and a block in two games last week for the Mystics.

McCloud is a holder of several records in football, basketball and baseball for Bottineau High School.
