Winter weather enveloped much of North Dakota the past weekend with snow, cold temps and high winds, and with that many area sports events were postponed.

On Friday Bottineau-Rugby’s bout with visiting Williston was postponed to a later date. Saturday’s game with Bismarck was also postponed for the Braves. Makeup dates have not been set as of yet.

Also postponed on Friday was the Dakota College at Bottineau women’s basketball match up against the Minot Air Force Base. Coach Wayne Johnson said the Ladyjacks are attempting to reschedule, but are having trouble finding a date that works.

Friday’s game between the Westhope-Newburg Sioux girl’s basketball squad and Our Redeemer’s set for 7:15 p.m. in Newburg has been postponed until Feb. 2.

Also delayed due to the weather on Saturday was DCB’s Lil’ Swishers Basketball Camp set to happen from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be rescheduled sometime in February.

Another event scheduled for Saturday was the game between the Westhope-Newburg and Stanley boy’s basketball teams. That game will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bottineau 19U’s road trip to Watford City and Miles City was also postponed

Lastly the Bottineau Stars’ game with North Star, scheduled for Saturday afternoon was postponed to a date to be named later.

As is not uncommon in North Dakota during the winter months, mother nature can step in and delay many sporting events. Keep an eye out in future editions of the Bottineau Courant for dates and times of when the postponed events will be rescheduled.
