Bottineau’s 19U girl’s hockey team earned another weekend sweep as they hosted Glasgow for a pair of West Region wins.
In game one Bottineau dominated in all facets of the game against Glasgow as they breezed to a 5-0 win.
Bottineau out shot Glasgow 46-8 as Bottineau goalie Jacie Ceglowski stopped all eight shots that came her way for her second shut out of the season.
Bottineau got off to a quick start, scoring four times in the opening period. Alexis Kihle fit a tight shot above goalie Autumn Gault’s shoulder. Karlee McCloud assisted on the goal.
Less than 30 seconds later Natalie Bahr notched the second Bottineau goal as she took passes from Erin Severson and Ashley Blue to put Bottineau up 2-0.
Forty seconds later it was Blue this time scoring for Bottineau, on an unassisted goal.
Less than a minute remaining in the opening period and McCloud stuffed one past Gault. Blue assisted on the play.
Blue closed out her strong day with her second goal of the game to round off the Bottineau scoring in the third period.
Bottineau continued their dominance in the second meeting later that same day. Bottineau again out shot Glasgow mightily in the 7-2 win, as they shot 62 times at Gault, while Glasgow fired only 19 shots at Ceglowksi, who stopped 17 of them.
Again Bottineau got a strong start, as they scored the first three goals of the game. First it was Blue scoring on an assist from McCloud.
At 7:52 of the opening frame Paige Vad struck with her first goal of the weekend. Sonja Gilje assisted on the play.
A few minutes later and it was the combo of McCloud to Blue to make it 3-0 Bottineau as Blue notched her fourth goal of the day.
Glasgow answered back with a goal late in the first period.
However, Bottineau answered back with two more goals of their own to kick off the second period.
Bahr scored her second goal of the day, taking passes from Severson and Bailey Neubauer.
Blue scored her fifth goal of last Saturday’s doubleheader next, as Neubauer earned her second assist of the game to put Bottineau up 5-1.
Glasgow scored once more before the end of the period to climb within three goals of Bottineau.
The third period then belonged to Bottineau once again as Ceglowski shut out Glasgow in the final frame. Blue scored her fourth goal of the game and sixth of the day with an unassisted goal early in the third.
Bahr closed out the scoring late in the final frame as she took passes from Severson and McCloud to make the final score 7-2 in favor of Bottineau.
Bottineau, who is 10-0 on the season (they did lose an exhibition game to Bismarck, but it does not reflect on their record), will play next on Saturday with games at Watford City and in Miles City.
They play Miles City once more on Sunday and then return home to host a jamboree in Bottineau Jan. 18-20.
