A local Bottineau woman lost her life on Saturday, Dec., 22, in a two car vehicle accident which occurred on Highway 2 near Norwich.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Courtney A. Davis, 25, of Bottineau was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt west on Highway 2 in the eastbound lane on the four lane highway when she struck Jordyn L. Brandt, 22, who was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 and was traveling east in the eastbound lane going home to Granville.

Davis’ vehicle came to rest in the median upright facing east, while Brandt’s car ended up facing west on the south shoulder of the eastbound highway on its wheels.

Davis and Brandt, along with a passenger in Brandt’s vehicle, Landon A. D. Brandt, 14, had to be extracted from their vehicles.

Davis was pronounced deceased at the scene, while J. Brandt and L. Brandt were transported by ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Minot.

It is uncertain where Davis was en route to during the time of the accident or why she was driving down the wrong side of Highway 2. However, the accident is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Agencies involved in the accident included North Dakota Highway Patrol, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Velva Fire and Rescue, Granville Fire Department, Velva Community Ambulance and the Minot Community Ambulance.
