Farmers Union Oil Co. of Westhope, Souris and Bottineau has a new business. They opened the doors to their new store this past Monday.

Early this month, Farmers Union Oil Co. purchased Newberger’s lumberyard on Highway 5 and will now be offering a full service lumberyard, along with their convenience store just across the street.

“The opportunity arose to purchase Newberger’s,” said Kevin Schroeder, manager of the Farmer’s Union Oil Co. “And, we decided to purchase it and continue to run it as a lumberyard.”

The new business will be called Farmer’s Union Lumber.

“Farmers Union Lumber will be ran as part of Farmers Union Oil Co.,” Schroeder said. “And, we will continue to offer the Benjamin Moore paint line.”

Scott Bartholomay is going to manage the lumberyard and he will have two employees working with him.

The hours will stay the same, which will include Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon.

Farmer Union Oil Co. will be doing some remodeling to the lumberyard and plan to have an open house in the near future.
