The Dakota College at Bottineau volleyball team’s season came to an end this past weekend at the Region XIII tournament in Wahpeton.
The Ladyjacks fell twice at the hands of eventual runner-up Williston State to close their much improved season.
DCB went 5-21 overall in 2011-12, but improved to conclude 2012-13 with a 15-16 record.
At the region tournament the fifth-seeded Ladyjacks could not handle the fourth-seeded Tetons in the first round last Friday.
WSC swept DCB to hand them their first loss in the double-elimination tournament.
After the loss the Ladyjacks had to face third-seeded Dakota County Technical College (DCTC).
DCB previously lost to the DCTC earlier in the season, so they knew it would be a difficult task.
However, the Ladyjacks rose to the occasion as they outlasted DCTC in a 3-2, five-set thriller.
The Jacks then had to take on the Tetons once again as the DCTC, Gogebic Community College and Lake Region State were all eliminated.
WSC again were to much for the Ladyjacks to handle in another 3-0 sweep.
The Tetons wound up advancing past the host North Dakota State College of Science and to the championship against second-seeded Bismarck State, who wound up Region XIII champs.
Two members of the Ladyjacks squad were named to the All-Tournament team over the weekend. Sophomores Jordyn Sondrol and Josie Degagne were honored with All-Tournament selections after their play over the past weekend.
For Sondrol, it was her second consecutive Region XIII All-Tournament selection.
For the Mystics they will move on to play for the District G title on Nov. 2-3 against the Region IX winner in Bismarck.
The winner of that will move on to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament Nov. 15-17 hosted in Toledo, Ohio at Owens Community College.
