An illegal immigrant suspected of murder in Raleigh, N.C., is currently in the Bottineau County Jail after being stopped for a speeding violation just outside of Minot.
According to Steve Watson, sheriff of Bottineau County, four illegal men were pulled over by a deputy of the Ward County Sheriff’s Office for speeding where the men were discovered to be illegal immigrants.
The U.S. Border Patrol was called in to assist in the case. The driver of the vehicle, who is a citizen of Honduras, and could not speak English, was finger printed, where it was discovered the man was wanted for murder in Raleigh, N.C.
At that time, the U.S. Border Patrol brought the murder suspect to Bottineau where he was turned over to the custody of the sheriff and was placed in the county’s jail in Bottineau.
The Honduras man has waived his rights for extradition, and is currently waiting to be transported back to North Carolina by local authorities from Raleigh.
The remaining three men are in the care of the U.S. Border Patrol who are in the process of removing the three men from the United States.
Of the four men, three of them are from Honduras and one is from El Salvador.
