The Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks snapped a six-game skid and earned their first win of the season with a 30-7 victory over Mayville State JV last Friday evening.

In the tilt it was the Jacks running game and strong defense that helped propel them to their first victory of the year.

However, never satisfied was head coach Tim Pfeifer, who said there were still several mistakes to clean up.

“The Jacks got their running game in gear and were able to control the ball on the ground for most of the night,” Pfeifer stated. “We had a couple of costly penalties that kept us out of the end zone and had some really costly fumbles that kept us from scoring a couple more touchdowns.”

Defensively the Jacks stomped out most of all the Comets offense had to offer. They allowed only the one touchdown in the win.

“The defense had a very solid night with a couple of great goalline stands,” Pfeifer stated. “They played very well I felt except for two plays where we let them get a couple of big plays.”

DCB closes their season at 2 p.m. next Saturday in Ellendale where they are set for a rematch against the Trinity Bible College Lions.
