The Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks football team fell for the fourth straight time this season as they were unable to upset the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton last Saturday.

The Wildcats were too much for the Lumberjacks in the end, despite DCB being within three scores in the fourth quarter. NDSCS wound up pushing DCB to 0-4 after a 45-6 win.

“We actually were in the game for most of the day being down 26-6 with six minutes to play and the wheels fell off,” stated Jacks coach Tim Pfeifer. “On the offensive side of the ball we were able to move the ball at times in the first half but were hurt with three big penalities.”

The Jacks scored their only touchdown on the first drive of the second half. However, the next five Jacks possessions resulted in turnovers and gave NDSCS a short field to work with.

However, Pfeifer said he was pretty happy with the play of the defense, despite a few miscues.

“The defense for the most part had a pretty decent day. We gave up three big pass plays that resulted in a couple touchdowns for them,” Pfeifer stated. “We are seeing some improvement, but are really having trouble being consistent play after play.”

The Jacks look for their first win of the year as they will host Ellsworth Community College at noon on Saturday at Les Christian Field in Bottineau.

Ellsworth is in the same conference (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) as NDSCS. They are currently 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the ICCAC.
