The Bottineau Stars dropped their fifth match of the season this past Tuesday in a 3-0 sweep loss as they hosted Our Redeemer’s.
The Lady Knights took advantage of the absence of Bottineau’s top digger and second-leading hitter, junior Danielle McDonald, by taking games 25-20, 25-10 and 25-21.
Ashley Koppinger led the Lady Knights with 15 kills, 10 digs and three blocks.
Bottineau’s top players were sophomore Stephanie Brenden (nine kills), senior Katryna Hahn (11 digs), and juniors Bailey Neubauer (21 set-assists, one ace) and Courtney Gallagher (nine digs, eight kills, one ace).
Junior Rachael Fix continued her strong play as she had nine digs and is still a perfect 105-for-105 on serves this season.
Our Redeemer’s boasts the top record in Region 6, and dropped the Stars to 10-5 overall this season.
After the match Stars coach Steve Dunrud noted that the Stars missed McDonald in the game, but thought Brenden and Kennedy Olson stepped up and played well in her stead. He also was happy with the effort in games one and three, which the Stars were competitive against the tough Lady Knights squad.
Bottineau opens up district play at 7 p.m. tonight against Newburg-Westhope in Bottineau.
