Polar Bears plunge past Sioux at home

The Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn Sioux dropped their first Region 2 game and third game of the season this past Friday in a 41-12 loss to the Larimore Polar Bears in Larimore.

The Sioux kicked off the scoring in the first quarter as junior quarterback Hunter Braaten scored on a 39-yard touchdown run.

However the Polar Bears took the lead, scoring the next two times on runs by Derek Grogan.
The Sioux struck back with a Karlie Hancock 18-yard run in the second quarter, and trailed 13-12.

Larimore would score once more before half as Jeremy Wiegandt ran it in from eight yards out.
The second half would be all Polar Bears as they shutout the Sioux and scored three more scores to record their third straight win.

Wiegandt and Grogan each added another score in the second half, as did Jake Peterson.

The Sioux dropped to 1-3 overall with the loss and 1-1 in Region 2 play.

WNG will host North Prairie for the homecoming game next Friday, Sept. 14 in Westhope. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

North Prairie is coming off a 26-8 loss to Langdon-Munich this past Friday.
